Saturday April 21 K7K Event

This next Saturday, April 21st is our Winter SET (Simulated Emergency Test) in Spanish Fork.
Our event coincides with National Volunteer Week, and we are still in need of volunteers–radio communicators and CERT.
Details for this event are below under ‘read more’

The SET will be at the LDS Stake Center at 870 East Canyon Rd., Spanish Fork.

GPS Coord: N 40º 6′ 13.48″ W 111º 36′ 25.86″

From I-15 South, take Spanish Fork Main Street exit. Turn left (south) on Main street and go about 1.33 miles to 300 South (Canyon Rd). Turn left (east) and go approx. .75 miles to the stake center.
Parking lot is accessable only on the south side, so turn off Canyon Rd at 820 East, just after the Jr. High School, then take the first left at Maple Drive.

There will be a text message sent out to UCARES members on Friday, April 20th. If you are an ARES member, not receiving text call-outs, email Bryan Perry, ARES EC to get on this system.

***The Staffing Net will be held Friday at 1900 on UCARES 147.34 (100.0 pl) repeater***

We are in need of a MINIMUM of 5 amateur radio operators. You do not have to be an ARES member to participate. This SET will test you on your radio comm skills and what you should have for a call-out.
If you are CERT trained, come & refresh your training.

Check-in for this Event is from 0800-0845 in the Stake Center.
We will have a Briefing from 0845-0930

What to bring:
Prepare for the weather of April 21st; but this will be a simulated winter event.
CERT participants should bring their full gear for various scenarios in canvassing a neighborhood on health & welfare checks.
ARES or amateur radio participants should bring their jump kits, or browse through the
ARES certification levels 1-3 to have an idea of what gear you might need.
The ‘Event’ should last 1-1.5 hours. Debriefing will be after the SET.

We will also be running a Special Event station, K7K on HF; listen for us on 14.306 MHz (20m) and 7.265 MHz (40m) +/- QRM.

Since this is a ‘call out’ you should have some type of ID that identifies you as radio communicators: your ARES vest, badge or FCC badge so you can get into the Staging Area.
