Saturday May 31 TERT Outdoor Training

This is a reminder of the TERT Outdoor Training meeting that will be held this coming Saturday (May 31) at Aspen Grove trail head parking lot. New members be there at 0800 for a fun NEW MEMBER CLASS presented by John Moellmer. Everyone else be there ready to start at 0830.

There will be a number of things going on. Hopefully we will here from Ranger Steve Ashcraft and Dep. Collin Gordon from the Sheriff’s Office. Expect the training to end around 1330.

Wade Starks will be taking pictures for ID cards and for his records so bring your best face.

Unless conditions melt quicker, the Alpine Loop is closed until June 7th, those of you at the north end of the County will have to come up the Aspen Grove side.

Clikc on “Read More” to see what you need to bring.

Things to bring:

1. Members with Tilley Hats please bring them. We need to take a group picture and that can be sent to Tilley. They might be able to use it in a world-wide advertising campaign and we would all be famous. So, bring your hat!!!! If nothing else, they will see where all these hats have been going.

New Tilley hats will be there for those who recently ordered them. Come with check in hand or make arrangements to pay that afternoon by PayPal.

2. DAY PACK of things you would normally carry and come dressed as if you are on the mountain. Communicators bring your radio.

3. GPS, if you have one. Garmin type is preferred but not required.

4. ICE AXE if you have one, to do some ice axe training if the snow is available. Come dressed appropriately.

5. SNACKS to help your through the day. I see in the schedule that they are allowing some time for a brief lunch.

6. ID BADGE.

7. WATER – as of May 25th, the water wasn’t turned on. Fortunately, the restrooms were open.

8. CALENDAR so that you can sign up for weekends.

9. RADIO – for the communicators.

Dr. Doug Murdock and Troy Nelson will be helping with the training so it should be quite interesting. There will also be a number of live (as opposed to dead?) scenarios presented by some other well-knows TERT trainers.

If you don’t get a parking pass from the gate person, be sure to fill out a slip at the stand in the parking lot. Put TERT on it and put it in your window.

We look forward to a fun and educational Saturday. And, best of all, we will be up in the mountains. WX report looks good for next Sat. but it will be held regardless of weather.
