April Interface Meeting

Tuesday, April 5, we will have our monthly interface meeting. But instead of meeting at the Sheriff’s Office, will we be holding a Fox Hunt.

What is a Fox Hunt? There are many variations, but this is how we play in Utah County:
-a transmitter (the Fox) is hidden somewhere in Utah County
-the players (the Hunters) may start anywhere they want
-any technique may be used to locate the Fox
-only the Fox may transmit on the Fox frequency (146.460 simplex)

The Hunt will begin at 7pm and continue until all the Hunters have located the Fox or 9pm. The Fox will be on 146.460 (UCARES simplex frequency). Hunters may use the UCARES repeaters to coordinate their activities if they wish, or they may hunt alone. Refreshments will be with the Fox.

More information about Fox Hunting can be found at:

Fox Hunts are good exercises because they help familiarize you with Radio Direction Finding techniques and gives you an opportunity to explore Utah County (and perhaps become more familiar with it). The Fox is usually found in the first 30-45 minutes, so don’t start late!

Good luck and good hunting!
