UCARES Advancement Coordinator

We are pleased to announce significant updates to our Levels of Certification, effective immediately! These changes reflect our commitment to providing clear pathways for amateur radio operators to advance their skills and contribute meaningfully to emergency communications.

The goal of UCARES Certification is to help our members gain the skills, equipment, and practice to participate in community and emergency communications. As members complete the certification program, we know they are ready to help in leadership roles and can be relied upon to be effective radio operators.

What's Changed?

  • Increased Net Duties Requirements: We've increased our expectations for our Net Operators. Effect net communication is critical, we always need skilled operators who can handle Net Operations effectively.
  • Modified EOC Emphasis: Utah County has many Emergency Operation Centers, we've modified our focus to put additional emphasis on being familiar with your Home / Work EOC, and supporting our EOCs.
  • Streamlined Certifications: We used to have additional certifications separate from our 4 levels. We've consolidated those requirements into our 4 levels.
